Farmed 240 acres at Lodgefields Farm, Withyham (in 'Historical Notes of Withyham' he takes over from his father in 1868). The farmhouse is Elizabethan with beams dating back to 1540 and is the oldest oast house in Kent. In the grounds of the farm is a 'Ha Ha' and an old rose garden that has been lovingly restored (it was owned by the Duke of Dorset and possibly originally was called 'White House/Croft' - both the farmhouse and the oast house have been beautifully restored by Simon Rowland (his company is called 'Live & Direct' a multi-media company - he runs this from one of the purpose built units in the farnyard - in the next door unit is the author of the 'Mr' books. Mr Rowland lives in the oast house with his family - the previous owner was a Mr G K Dennis - his son Tim Calcutt who now lives at Halecourt Farm nearby (01892 330839). In his will Reginald left £8,619 to Elizabeth his widow.

In the book 'Historical Notes of Withyham' by Robert (son of Reginald) he is tenant at Blackham Courtin 1900 - it is noted in the book 'Blackham Court must have been a very important place years ago - the Manor House of Blackham. There are signs of a large house and moat at the back of the present house.'
