1841 Census he is a miller living in Windmill House, Rotherfield, with Elizabeth, Martha, John Mary Ann and his mother Sarah (aged 70).
1861 Census: Spring Head, Lower Beeding age 50 with wife Elizabeth aged 46, Martha 24, James 19, Reuben 15, Mark 13, Elizabeth 10, Hannah 8 and William 3 - John is not there - lodger elsewhere? no Mary Ann died 1851?, or Philadelphia died 1858? and no 2nd Mary Ann born 1856??

The only one of John's sons to be a miller. Studied the rolling plant in Germany and was the first miller to introduce it to England. Later had mills at Godalming and Hamstead (later at Gloucester Dodge, Hounslow) Warehouses and barges at Brentford. Francis bought the Croydon Srum Laundry for his wife and her sisters Phyllis and May.
